Clean Up Days 2009

Black River Recycling & Supply on Lakewood Boulevard.  Located between 120th and 112th Avenues. (First driveway east of Kendall Electric at 11560 Lakewood Blvd.)  ID will be required 

The following items CANNOT be accepted:   paints, drain oils, solvents and other petroleum products, fuel tanks, and sealed containers.  Batteries and lawn waste will be accepted (no tree stumps).There is a limit of 2 appliances per household and 4 automobile tires per household.

All roofing must be contained, not loose.  It must be boxed or bagged.

Fall Leaf Collection 2009
Leaves only – No branches or brush.

If leaves are brought to the drop off site in plastic bags, you will be asked to empty the leaves out of the bags into the disposal bins.  No plastic bags are accepted.  However, paper bags may be used.

Those wishing to use this service may bring leaves to any of the sites listed from
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Do you love the idea of a real Christmas tree but hate the problem of disposing of it?  You can you’re your tree to Holland Township’s Quincy Street Park, 14025 Quincy Street, December 29, 2009 through January 31, 2010.  Trees can be brought to the park from dawn to dusk.  Follow the signs to the drop-off area. 

 

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

Ottawa County residents can safely dispose of household hazardous waste at no cost.  Example of items accepted include:  used motor oil and filters, antifreeze, old gasoline, car batteries, household cleaners, pool chemicals, pesticides, oil based paint, computers, and fluorescent light bulbs.  Please take your hazardous products to:

Tuesday, Thursday, and the 2nd Saturday of the month.
8 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
 

In addition, the center offers residential recycling of number 1 and 2 plastics, paper, glass, metals, and corrugated cardboard for an annual membership fee of $40.00.

Burning Permit

Call the Park Township Office at 399-4520 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Do not burn garbage, leaves, or yard waste.  Permits are free and easy to obtain by calling Park Township Office.  You will be asked for your name, address, phone number, and the days you wish to burn.  This information will be forwarded to the Park Township Fire Dept.

No burning is allowed on roads or bike paths.  Burn small piles.  Do not leave the fire unattended.  Water must be available at all times.  Fires must be totally extinguished by 9:30 p.m. 

Burn only in calm weather.  State law for any open burning done whenever the ground is not snow-covered requires a burning permit.
