State law for any open burning done whenever the ground is not snow-covered requires burning permits.  Permits are free and easy to obtain, just call the Park Township Office at 616-399-4520 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  You will be asked for your name, address, phone number, and the days you wish to burn.  This information will be forwarded to the Park Township Fire Department.

You are asked to follow these requirements:

• Please do not burn leaves or yard waste.

• Do not burn garbage.

• No burning is allowed on roads or bike paths.

• Burn small piles.

• Do not leave the fire unattended.

• Burn only in calm weather.

• Water must be available at all times.

• Fires must be totally extinguished by 9:30 p.m.
